How to make home feel like a different place

Does this happen to you? You go away (for 30 minutes, 2 hours, a whole day, a month) and have an experience of some significance. On your return, your home has a different mood/vibe/feel than when you left? One that is an extension of the place you’ve been, as if you’ve brought someplace-else with you? Or you view home in contrast to the place you’ve just been?

The extreme example is when you return home from an overseas holiday and Home feels completely alien. But it can also happens to me after a trip to somewhere local that is a bit more rural, a bit wilder. The suburban home feels like an outpost of the spread of the Tasmanian wilderness.
